Website for Boardwalk Insurance Group – Increased Security Measures Put in Place
No comments · Posted by John Argo in News
Boardwalk Insurance Group has invested heavily in the use of cutting-edge technologies to make life easier not only for our employees, but also for our valuable clients. From the growing number threats by malicious hackers in the news almost daily, we felt it was necessary to do our part to assure that our website is safe, protecting company and client information.
Therefore, we have introduced the use of a SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificate in wild card form on our website. According to GoDaddy.com, an SSL certificate is “a digital certificate that authenticates the identity of a website and encrypts information sent to the server using SSL technology. Encryption is the process of scrambling data into an undecipherable format that can only be returned to a readable format with the proper decryption key. A certificate serves as an electronic "passport" that establishes an online entity’s credentials when doing business on the Web. When an Internet user attempts to send confidential information to a Web server, the user’s browser accesses the server’s digital certificate and establishes a secure connection.”
Since our website uses multiple sub-domains for our various locations and features, we could not use a regular SSL certificate. We had to go with the “wild card” option which allows an unlimited number of sub-domains to be included within the SSL certificate. This assures that our entire website is secure, not just our main pages.
We want our customers to have trust in that our website is secure and that their information will be transmitted and managed responsibly and heavily encrypted in the event that it falls into the wrong hands.
Insurance agents handle very private information on their clients. It’s imperative that they take measures to keep this information secure. Whether you are a client of our independent insurance agency or not, make sure your agent utilizes an SSL certificate on their website and has other measures in place to secure your personal information in their agency management system, office filing cabinets, etc.
Never fill out a form on a website that is not secure. Contact information is okay, but if you have to provide personal information, such as you do to obtain an insurance quote, be sure to find out if the website is secure. How can you tell if a website is secure? The first option is to look at the address bar where the URL is. If it’s different color than what is usually is, then that means they are using some security measures. The other way is to look for a little padlock icon somewhere in your browser window (usually towards the bottom right of your screen).
Also, most “secure” websites utilize 1024-bit encryption. In 2011, this encryption is not enough. 2048-bit encryption is the way to go now and provides the highest level of security available today. If you are looking to add an SSL certificate to your site, the vendor you use matters. Make sure they are a member of the “Certificate Authority Browser Forum,” an organization which upholds to the most strict standards.
We purchased our SSL certificate from the fine people at GoDaddy.com. They listened to our concerns and suggested the options that would work best for us, while also saving us money as opposed to some of their competitors.

Cargo Insurance Coverage for Travel Trailers
No comments · Posted by John Argo in Commercial Auto Insurance Policy, News
A short message about cargo insurance coverage from your friends at Boardwalk Insurance Group:
With the recent devastating storms, many of our clients in various parts of the country have asked if we can provide cargo insurance coverage while they are hauling travel trailers that will be used as temporary housing in their affected areas.
Our carriers currently provide up to $100,000 in cargo insurance coverage for travel trailers, whether it is attached to a covered vehicle or hauled on a flatbed trailer attached to a covered vehicle. So if you have a policy with us, you don’t need to request exceptions for FEMA trailers.
Just so you know, insurance coverage for your travel trailer begins when it is being loaded, continues while the unit is in transport, and discontinues after it has been unhooked from the pulling unit.
The only thing to note is that mobile homes are not automatically covered and therefore require an exception.
If you have any questions regarding this issue, please do not hesitate to contact your representative. If you are not a client of our agency but would like a quote for cargo insurance, feel free to contact us.

Cheap Apartment Renters Insurance Policies
No comments · Posted by John Argo in General Insurance, Products and Services, Renters Insurance
Are you looking for cheap apartment renters insurance? Many apartment complexes require tenants to carry apartment renters insurance these days and won’t let you move in until proof of this coverage is provided by your insurance agent or insurance agency.
The good news is that this insurance is relatively inexpensive. Most insurance companies who provide this coverage price it between $50 and $150 per year. The variation in cost is based on the liability limit selected and the amount of contents coverage the customer wants.
The liability coverage protects you when claims come in from third parties. These include guests who come to visit you. The contents coverage, also referred to as personal property, covers your furniture and fixtures inside your apartment.
Some apartment complexes do not require tenants to maintain this coverage and others only require this coverage if, for example, you intend to put up a satellite dish. We get a lot of questions as to what a satellite dish has to do with apartment renters insurance. The answer is that if the dish was improperly installed and happens to fall off the building and land on someone or something, the apartment complex owners could get sued. If the tenant carried an apartment renters insurance policy, then the tenant’s insurance company would defend the claim and the property owners would be off the hook.
The amount of liability coverage can vary from as little as $25,000 up to $1,000,000. The contents coverage generally starts at $10,000 and goes up to $50,000.
A general renter’s policy is also available for those who rent homes and mobile homes from landlords. The limits of coverage and rates are similar to apartment renter’s insurance policies.
If you are live in Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New Mexico, Nevada, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington or Wisconsin, and are looking to purchase a cheap apartment renters insurance policy, contact Boardwalk Insurance Group to get a free, no obligation quote. We have several carriers to choose from so we can find the right coverage and price for you.
You can go to our website and fill out our online application and just let the quotes come to you.

Event Liability Insurance for Weddings and Special Events
No comments · Posted by John Argo in General Insurance, Products and Services, Special Event Liability Insurance
Are you in need of event liability insurance policy for a special event? Let Boardwalk Insurance Group help find the right insurance company for you.
Many banquet facilities, hotels, convention centers, parks, country clubs, night clubs, concert halls and other venues require event hosts to carry some type of special event insurance these days. From weddings to fundraisers to concerts to parties with alcohol, some type of insurance is requested to protect not only the property owners, but the hosts themselves from claims that may arise.
Some examples of event insurance claims which have occurred:
• Property Damage: Facility walls were damaged when children smeared chocolate from the chocolate fountain.
• Property Damage: A guest spilled an entire glass of red wine on the carpet.
• General Liability: Five guests became sick from eating spoiled food from an outside caterer. They are seeking coverage for their medical payments.
• General Liability: The bride’s cousin fell on the dance floor and broke her leg. She is seeking coverage for her medical bills.
• Liquor Liability: The bartending service hired to serve alcohol at the wedding negligently served alcohol to an intoxicated or underage person.
Liquor Liability insurance coverage is crucial if the event you are hosting will be serving alcohol. It makes no difference if you are utilizing a cash bar or providing an open bar service for your guests. Either way, there is serious exposure to you and the facility. If the venue or 3rd party service they use to cater alcohol states they have their own coverage, you must make sure that they provide you with a certificate of insurance for your particular event dates/times and also list you or your organization on the policy as an additional insured.
The banquet hall may be held liable for the actions of those selling or serving alcohol at the wedding. It may cost thousands of dollars in defense costs to prove you are not liable for a liquor liability claim and you can be brought into a claim if the wedding couple does not have a liquor liability insurance policy in place. It’s just not worth the trouble so you must make sure adequate coverage is already in place or you should purchase your own.
Boardwalk Insurance Group provides special event insurance coverage for all types of events at all types of venues. Our typical event policies include:
• General Liability and host liquor liability coverage with separate limits (important if there are multiple large claims)
• Coverage for property damage caused to the rented banquet hall facility
• Medical payments coverage
• Food and beverage product liability
• No general liability deductible
• $1,000 sublimit for lost deposits (cost to reimburse for a lost deposit if a vendor goes out of business, declares bankruptcy or fails to show up) included at no additional charge
• Up to three additional insureds including the banquet hall facility owner can be included for no additional charge
• No deductible
• Defense Costs are outside of the policy limits
• Limits of $1,000,000/$2,000,000 available
Quotes can be provided within 24 hours of submitting a completed application. Premiums for events can range anywhere from $250 to $10,000 per day. Factors considered in determining costs include the type of venue, type of event, number of people attending, if the event is free or paid, if any celebrities will be in attendance, if alcohol is being served, event timings, etc.
If you are in search of special event insurance, contact Boardwalk Insurance Group today to get a free, no-obligation quote from one of our many A-rated insurance companies. Our knowledgeable staff is standing by to service you.

Commercial General Liability Insurance
No comments · Posted by Boardwalk Insurance in Commercial General Liability Insurance, General Insurance, Products and Services
Commercial General Liability insurance, commonly referred to as CGL or GL, covers commercial insureds (business owners) from losses sustained by third parties. Based on the type of business you are in, your coverage can cover you for everything from a slip and fall claim to a negligence claim. It’s important, especially in this day and age, for all businesses to carry some sort of liability insurance coverage. It’s probably a requirement for most businesses anyways, either by your lien holder, city, state, county or bank.
The premium for CGL is calculated on a few different factors, but primarily based on the type of business you are in, your expected annual revenues for the upcoming 12 months and sometimes, the amount of your annual payroll.
The most commonly purchased coverage is “$1 million/$2 million.” This means that you have coverage for up to $1M on any one claim and you have an aggregate coverage of $2M for all claims in any one policy period, usually 1 year. So you can have 2 $1M claims, 4 $500k claims, etc. and still be covered under the policy.
Insurance companies offer much lower coverages, such as $100,000, $300,000, $500,000, etc., but it’s usually not worth it to purchase them. For only a few bucks more per year, you can have a $1,000,000 policy. Of course, coverage can also go much higher than this as well.
If you are in search of a commercial general liability insurance policy, your best bet is to work with an independent insurance agency. Independent insurance agents represent several different companies and can shop your coverage request internally to get you the best deal. No matter how simple or complicated your business is, independent agents are more flexible and can find coverage for all.

Insurance for your pest control business is not something available to purchase online and is not something offered by all insurance agents nor by all insurance companies.
